Family bred, raised and loved mini dachshunds – our family to yours, Worldwide

We breed smooth and long haired mini dachshund pups, direct from our family to yours – wherever you live in the World.

Choc smooth, black & tan long and isabella smooth, L-R

We hope you enjoy this website which extends further into the world of dogs, Dachshunds and beyond! Loads of breeder stories and tips, some controversial topics as well as great owner stories. Feel free to post a story or maybe just post a comment – your contribution will be most welcome.

We are now tweeting the arrival of our pups, so if you want to be among the first to see any freshly hatched bubs, start following us on Twitter now!
You can follow us by clicking the twitter button at the top right hand side of this page.
We’ll tweet pupdates and when they reach five weeks of age, all available pups will be posted for sale. Again, the for-sale posting will be tweeted so handy for those wanting to get first pick. Subscribers will also be notified, by email.
(People already awaiting their pup will be updated privately as we make the transition to our new system.)
We encourage questions and if these can be done publicly on this website, others can share their thoughts too and we can all benefit.
We also have a new capacity to add videos and hope you enjoy this.
Soon we will feature a guided tour of the doggery…our COMPLETED facility.
Fiona and David Douglas

Our breeding commitment

We are miniature dachshund breeders and we are passionate about widening the gene pool for the betterment of our puppies and the dachshund breed as a whole.

We are equally passionate that all our dogs lead a happy, loved and fulfilled life as valued members of our family. Our breeding facility is now near completion and we believe it will set a new benchmark in dog breeding in Australia and possibly the world.

The office is part of the doggery building, so Fiona is surrounded by dogs all day

Weanling pups have lots of toys plus access to the outdoors on fine days

Pups playing tug of war. Grass slowly coming in runs and wattles springing up. Each run has a concrete pipe for added interest/shelter/ fun.

Purpose built modern facilities but with a homely atmosphere

A critical factor in breeding sound animals is a wide gene pool. Accordingly, we NEVER inbreed or ‘line breed’ (ie breeding relatives to relatives). We are dedicated pet breeders, which means our breeding program is driven by dog health and happiness. Please note that as dedicated pet breeders, our puppies do not come with the pedigree papers required for the formal show circuit.

Our breeding dogs include overseas dogs and hence genetics. For example, our registered Australian Champion long haired mini Dachshund (rising 10 years old) and a smooth haired USA registered dog we imported (who carries a recessive gene for long hair) produced the outstanding pups below: two silver dappled smooths and one black long haired. Arguably these pups have the widest genetic mix in Australia resulting in high health, beautiful little dachshunds destined for loving pet homes.

Two sliver dappled smooths and one long hair: a wide gene pool lends to strong genetic health

Like humans, or any other species, no one can guarantee a dog will never get an illness during its life. But what can be said is that sound breeding practices that involve careful selection and screening for known prevalent disorders will set them off to a good start.
We are committed to improving the mini dachshund breed through responsible breeding and delivering the public healthy, happy pets.

Breeders of Mini Dachshunds, Gippsland Australia – bringing dachshunds to families world-wide

Who we are... We, David and Fiona Douglas, fell in love with Dachshunds more than a quarter of a century ago when our first Dachsie Gina (Gene Jelly Bean) found us. It was not until 2006 that we fulfilled a long held dream and started breeding mini Dachshunds for loving pet homes. We really like the wide variety of colours and patterns that are found mostly overseas; these … [Read More...]
